CBC Hockey Night in Canada 4x4 "Play On" Ball Hockey Tournament

Get ready, 'cause the Play On! National Street Hockey Championships are back again this September.

Hockey Night in Canada's Play On! National Championship is an invitation-only tournament for 114 Elite street hockey teams that qualified during one of the nineteen Play On! qualifier events held across Canada in May and June of 2012.

Play On! is Canada's Largest Sports Festival. The National Championship is held annually, with CBC providing live television coverage from the tournament.

This year the championship will take place in the Niagara Falls from the bustling streets at the top of Clifton Hill. Eleven pro-style rinks will be built on the highway on Victoria Avenue, and for two whole days cars won't even attempt to pass through.

That's right Canada. We're taking back the streets! It's a celebration of the game of hockey and Canadian culture, and in all the world there is nothing else quite like it!

With nearly 5,000 teams competing for it in 2012, the Redwood Cup is the most sought after hockey trophy in the world that literally anyone can win.

Teams will be playing for the Redwood Cup, the title of Canada's Greatest Street Hockey Players and $30,000 in cash prizes.

On September 29th, 2012 the National Championship Finals (Women 4pm EST, Men 5pm EST) will be televised live on CBC National Network. The National Champions will have their names engraved on the Redwood Cup and receive $30,000.00* in cash prizes, as well as being recognized as Canada's Greatest Street Hockey Players during Hockey Night in Canada

Men's Purse $25,000.00; Women's Purse $5,000.00
