Band Finalists Revealed in Search for Canada’s Next Superstar
youDiscover Competition announces first 14 bands to perform in Niagara Falls

NIAGARA FALLS, ON – Get Ready to Rock! – The first 14 bands to compete in this summer’s hottest music competition; youDiscover, have been revealed. These bands will now compete at Niagara Parks’ historic Oakes Garden Theatre for a chance to win a recording contract, band makeover and spot on national television.
The lucky finalists were selected from hundreds of online entries from across Canada and New York State. Contestants were required to upload three original tunes and a short video on why they should be selected to compete. The first 14 bands were chosen by record executives at Orange Lounge Recordings, and they include:

In total 28 bands will perform head to head in competition concerts held on Wednesdays and Fridays in July and August, each ending with a fireworks display over the Falls at 10:00PM. Starting on July 8th at Oakes Garden Theatre, the first two bands, InLimbo, of Niagara Falls, ON and Johnny Shoes, of Barrie, ON will compete. On July 10th, Dance Hall Free For All, of Guelph, ON, will face off against Metro4, of London, ON. The rest of the performance dates will be posted soon on www.youDiscover.ca.
The 28 bands performing will be narrowed down to four acts, which will then compete in the Grand Finale show where a panel of celebrity judges will pick the Grand Prize winner. This Grand Prize is valued at over $35,000 and includes a recording contract from Orange Lounge Recordings; a band makeover and a television appearance as the opening act on the nationally broadcast New Year’s Eve show in Niagara Falls.

Fans can cheer on their favorite bands all summer. Fans will be able to vote for the best performances during the shows at the Oakes Garden Theatre, or go online and vote at www.youDiscover.ca. To see the performances live, purchase your ticket at a discounted price of $5 online (plus taxes and processing fee) or get them at the door for $8 (taxes included). Taped portions of the concerts will also be available online in HD at the youDiscover website.
There’s still time to enter the competition! Bands must visit www.youDiscover.ca and upload three original tunes and a short video on why they should be selected to compete. All musical genres are invited to enter and bands can range in size from a solo artist up to nine people. Contest entries at www.youDiscover.ca are still being accepted until midnight July 15th, with the next set of 14 bands to be announced on July 21st.
The Niagara Parks Commission, in partnership with inMusic.ca, Orange Lounge Recordings, the Falls Avenue Entertainment Complex, the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Molson, the Maid of the Mist and others, is excited to play host to a summer concert series designed to find the best undiscovered musical talent from Canada and New York State.
