Chippawa Lions Park is a 13 acre Community Park in the south end of Niagara Falls (Chippawa). The Chippawa Lions Club, are the custodians of the park. As a result of age and use this busy park was in need of improvements. Staff worked with the Chippawa Lions Club to develop an updated master plan for the park. The current park improvements, in Phase 1 include:

  • Removal of the current playground and replacement with an accessible playground
  • Removal of wading pool and replacement with an accessible splash pad
  • Removal of damaged tennis courts and reconstruction of new double tennis courts
  • Construction of basketball play area
  • Improvements to the skate park
  • Improvements to park infrastructure (storm water, sub-surface drainage, and electrical)
  • Tree plantings to help offset the removal of ash trees

The next phases of the master plan will include resurfacing the exercise pathway, renovations to the senior ball diamond, a new picnic shelter, parking improvements and tree planting.

This playground opening is part of “Operation Awesome Playgrounds”, a City initiative to refresh 10 playgrounds in 2017. Residents are encouraged to visit and sign up to the City’s online engagement site letstalk.niagarafalls.ca to learn more.
