This spectacular garden is the entranceway to Queen Victoria Park, Niagara Parks’ centerpiece that showcases the Falls. Located at the foot of Clifton Hill, this is the perfect spot for a superb panoramic view of the American and Horseshoe Falls. A beautiful garden setting The Park’s signature garden offers a tranquil respite from the hustle and bustle of Niagara’s tourist district. Just ten minutes north of Clifton Hill, enjoy close to 100 acres of meticulously maintained gardens, home to the charming Butterfly Conservatory as well as the outdoor classroom for the Niagara Parks School of Horticulture. This horticulture wonder is located 8.8km north of Clifton Hill adjacent to the Centennial Lilac Garden and Sir Adam Beck Generating Stations. Observers marvel at the beauty of nature and human creativity with this clock. It is based on one found at Princess Street Gardens in Edinburgh, Scotland, originally built in 1903. It was during a business trip there, Former Ontario Hydro chairman Dr. Richard L. Hearn, was inspired by the clock and petitioned to have one built in Niagara.

Dufferin Islands is a secluded park that is unique in that it houses a series of tiny islands. They are all fused together by bridges and footpaths. Among the flowers that you can currently see are large patches of daffodils located by the Canadian Horseshoe Falls and the bank in Queen Victoria Park from Clifton Hill to Murray Street.
Tulips
Additionally, there are large tulip displays at Queen Victoria Park, Oakes Garden Theatre, Botanical Gardens, Floral Clock, and Queenston Heights, but the timing of the blooms can vary due to location, variety, and weather conditions.
Magnolias
If you’re looking for magnolias, you can spot Magnolia Allée outside of Floral Showhouse, at the Niagara Parks Police building, and several large specimens at the Botanical Gardens.

9. About Easter
In the Christian world, Easter is a celebration of the resurrection of Christ. On the third day after his crucifixion (Good Friday), the New Testament tells us that he arose from his grave and appeared to his disciples and ascended to Heaven…this is celebrated by Christians every year on Easter Sunday. The rabbit is known for its reproduction prowess (hence the term “multiplying like rabbits”) and is seen as having special powers to help humans reproduce, which symbolizes fertility and the egg is also a symbol of fertility, rebirth and new beginnings…which celebrates the death and resurrection of Christ. And chocolate? You can thank the Europeans for that. It began in the early 19th century and it was mainly France and Germany that decided to take this on.
Every year on March 17th, the Irish and the non-Irish alike, observe St. Patrick’s Day. What began as a religious feast day for the patron saint of Ireland, has become an international festival celebrating Irish culture.
St Patrick’s Day marks the anniversary of the death of a Christian missionary known as Patrick, who was born in the year 387. At the age of 16, he was captured and taken to Ireland as a slave. During this period, he became very religious and after six years he fled back to his family.
Later in his life, he returned to Ireland as a missionary. He is said to have played an important role in converting the inhabitants of Ireland to Christianity and in ridding the island of snakes. St Patrick is buried under Down Cathedral in Downpatrick, County Down, and is one of the three patron saints of Ireland. The other patron saints are St Brigid of Kildare and St Columba.
St Patrick’s Day celebrations were brought to Canada by Irish immigrants. The day is a bank holiday in Northern Ireland and a public holiday in the Republic of Ireland. In the rest of the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia and New Zealand, it is celebrated, but is not an official holiday.

Right after the parade, in Centennial Square at City Hall, the Niagara Health Foundation Tree Lighting, sponsored by Alectra, will transform the square into a twinkling wonderland. And here’s the kicker – it’s not just about the lights; it’s about giving back. This lighting ceremony marks the beginning of the Celebration of Lights, an initiative to raise funds for much-needed hospital equipment. So, every twinkle is a gift to our local hospitals.

Hold onto your hot cocoa because the festivities continue! At around 5:30 p.m., Centennial Square becomes the North Pole, where you can meet and greet the man of the hour – Santa Claus! Thanks to Niagara Helicopters, it’s not just a photo op; it’s an experience. Live entertainment, hot chocolate that warms the soul, and delicious bites from food trucks (Cookies by Gia and Soup & Things) are all part of the package, courtesy of Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc.

The Biggest and the Brightest of All Winter Festivals in Ontario!
The Niagara Winter Festival of Lights is FREE and open to everyone! It takes place November 18th 2023 to January 7th, 2024 along 8 km of the Niagara Parkway and within Queen Victoria Park, Dufferin Islands, and various tourist areas throughout Niagara Falls including: Clifton Hill, the Victoria Centre, Fallsview Boulevard, and Lundy’s Lane. Festival organizers have carefully crafted a brilliant schedule to ensure a diverse variety of events happen each week over roughly two months. Visitors should come out early and often to catch all the distinctive events throughout the festival.
For another type of magic, wander over to the Greg Frewin Theatre. An International Grand Champion of Magic, Greg Frewin’s ‘WONDER’ Show brings the best of the Las Vegas style family magic show to the Falls. There’s even an opportunity to have your picture taken with a tiger.
