Three-time Juno Award nominated Canadian singer-songwriter, Jill Barber, is performing at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre in celebration of International Jazz Day. Jill Barber's collection of French music is played around the world and has garnered a following that transcends language barriers. Barber's music has been featured in the Netflix series', Orange is the New Black and Riverdale, the long running Showtime series, The L Word; and powered a global advertising campaign for Chrysler with the track 'Never Quit Loving You.'
Jill Barber began her music career as an anglophone artist, later inspired by the French language during a performance at the Montreal Jazz Festival; she released her album, "Chansons" in 2013. Nearly a decade later, Barber reunited with the team that accompanied her on her most globally successful album to produce the much anticipated sequel. "ENCORE!"
Jill’s work has earned her awards, such as the Sirius XM Jazz Artist of the Year and the East Coast Music Award for Album of the Year, and scores of fans, including Blue Rodeo, Ron Sexsmith, and Kris Kristofferson, who called Jill “a real songwriter, and a damn good songwriter.”
