4 Ways To Enjoy the End of Summer With Your Kids in Niagara Falls

Reading Time:  3 minutes -

The kids are heading back to school, but the last couple of weeks of Summer still remain. Here are 4 things you can do with your kids to enjoy the last bit of warm weather in Niagara Falls.

1

Go Fishing

This is a fun family activity to do with the little ones that will keep their heads out of the back-to-school blues, and get them out and enjoying the fresh air.
Small rods and reels can be found at most tackle shops, and even in Canadian Tire and Wal-Mart. Big Bass Pro in Niagara-on-the-Lake, next to the Outlet Collection at Niagara, has a large selection for children. Also remember your bait, sun screen, life-jackets, bug spray and Band-Aids.
Niagara has plenty of locations to fish such as: Queenston Docks, Beaverdams, Niagara Glen in Niagara Falls, Port Colborne has shallow waters in the H. H. Knoll Lakeview Park, or St.Catharines the Fifteen Mile Pond and Sixteen Mile Pond are great options for kids.

An Outing to Clifton Hill

Obviously this was going to be on the list! The ultimate in family fun is on what is known as the “Street of Fun by the Falls” (Clifton Hill). With so many attractions, restaurants, shopping facilities, and concessions stands, it’s no wonder that we attract families from all around the world. That said, locals flock to Clifton Hill towards the end of the Summer as well. The warmth is still in the air, but it is far less busy once school begins, and locals know that’s a prime time for a “staycation”. It’s the best time to arrive and let your kids have a full day of inexpensive fun (you save on travel costs). Hotel rates also drop significantly.

3

Go Camping

September you should have no problem finding a campground in Niagara Falls for a last minute outing, and for less! Kids will love going on an outdoor adventure, and as long as there is water nearby and the weather cooperates, you’ll all have fun!
Suggestions: Campark Resorts, KOA Campground, and Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Niagara Falls.
4

Go to the Drive-In

Going to the drive-in gets the whole family out of the house and it is something the kids will find more adventurous over a regular movie theatre or watching a movie at home. Before it gets too chilly, try Niagara’s very own Can-View Drive-In Theatre (1956 Highway #20, Fonthill).
