#1. Avondale Dairy Bar

All their ice cream is made fresh daily on site. They pride themselves on the saying that its “Ice Cream the way it should be”. All of the ingredients are blended into the ice cream by hand, and they offer many choices of ice cream, frozen yogurt, cakes, & pies!

In operation since 1955, Avondale Dairy Bar has been a popular stop for ice cream for many generations of local residents. Sit outside and relax in Niagara farm country and enjoy! Behind the store is the working dairy farm with approximately 90 Holstein cows (Stewart Haven Farms).

Hours: Daily, and everyday in the Summer from 8:30 am – 11:00 pm 

Italian Ice Cream has been a family business in operation since 1978. They offer gelato, coffee, panini, or desserts. Their homemade products are peanut free and their gelato base is gluten-free, as well as do not use any hydrogenated oils. They offer 24 different flavours of gelato, Grab a cone and sit out on their patio!

#3. Sweets & Treats/Downhill Ice Cream

Sweets & Treats is between the Fudge Factory and Boston Pizza, Downhill Ice Cream is next to the Fun Factory towards the bottom of Clifton Hill.

Hours: Monday to Thursday: 9am – 2am, Friday to Sunday: 9am – 3am

Sweets & Treats and Downhill Ice Cream pride themselves on making their waffle cones fresh right on site. It’s impossible to walk down Clifton Hill without smelling the sweet aroma of fresh waffle cones being made here! Both locations offer soft serve ice cream on your choice of a regular cone, waffle cone, or a deluxe waffle cone (chocolate-dipped tips in peanuts or sprinkles). Sweets & Treats offers “Dippin’ Dots” — tiny beads of ice cream, yogurt, sherbet and flavored ice, as well as “Cruchi Creme” in Skor, Oreo Cookie, M&M Pieces, Reese’s Pieces, Rainbow Sprinkles, and Cool Colour Nerds which gets swirled into your ice cream. Downhill Ice Cream offers Flavour Burst ice cream in Strawberry, Lemon Drop, Butter Pecan, Blue Raspberry, Bubble Gum, Tropical Orange, Mocha Cappuccino, and Green Apple.

#4. Cow’s Ice Cream

Hours: 10:00 am – 10:00 pm Daily 

COWS Ice Cream began in 1983 with an old-fashioned recipe from Cavendish, PEI. They use cream with a very high butterfat content of approximately 16%. The result is very creamy and melts in your mouth. They use only fresh cream, real eggs, and sugar, and you can choose from 32 + flavors. Their Chocolate ice cream (featured in picture) is made with the finest cocoa imported from Holland.
