Canada's very own, Sarah McLachlan is one of the most well-known singer-songwriters in the world, having sold over 40 million records worldwide. During her career, she has garnered three Grammy Awards and twelve Juno Awards, and she has been inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Sarah's music captures the art of songwriting at its most intimate, and her unforgettable voice touch people all over the world.
McLachlan’s tenth studio album and debut release for Concord Records, Better Broken takes its title from its opening track – a soul-searching reflection on the fortitude that comes from weathering life’s constant storms – and furthers her legacy with a selection of songs that speak an uncompromising but radically illuminating truth about the state of the human condition.
Better Broken marks a bold new chapter for Sarah McLachlan, injecting fresh energy into her signature lush, moody pop-rock sound. Primarily recorded at the legendary Sound City Studios in Los Angeles, the album finds McLachlan expanding her creative circle and collaborating with producers Tony Berg and Will Maclellan, alongside an exceptional group of musicians including Wendy Melvoin, Matt Chamberlain, Benny Bock, and Greg Leisz. The result is a richly textured body of work that feels both expansive and deeply personal.
Her songs, such as "Angel," "Building A Mystery," "Fallen," "I Will Remember You," "Adia," "Sweet Surrender," "World On Fire," "Possession," and numerous more, have had a significant effect on music fans all over the world.
In addition to her personal musical endeavors, Sarah organized the Lilith Fair tour, which featured female singers and brought together over two million people over the course of three years. Lilith Fair was the most successful all-female music festival, raising nearly $7 million for local and national organizations and starting the careers of countless singers. The legacy was recently revisited in Lilith Fair: Building A Mystery – The Untold Story, which premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival to critical acclaim before debuting on Hulu. The film is executive produced by Dan Levy and directed by Ally Pankiw and was noted as one of the top documentary films to watch in 2025 by the Los Angeles Times.
