Concerts in Niagara Falls: Music in the Park

Reading Time:  4 minutes -During the Summer virtually every tourist is aware of all the concerts in Niagara Falls down at Queen Victoria Park, with free Coca-Cola sponsored concerts at 8:00 pm on fireworks days — which is every Friday, Sunday and Holiday evening at 10:00 pm until September 1, 2013. Queen Victoria Park’s big draw is of course the backdrop of Niagara Falls, which generates an estimated 12 million tourists a year to this spot. However, Niagara Falls is also home to a unique, quaint downtown core just a few minutes drive from the brink of the Falls. Queen Street, is home to authentic stores and restaurants and its revitalized look of new sidewalks and parks has garnered attention from local artists, springing up some new galleries which just adds to its renovated look. Just look for the newly added “Gold Q” arch that hangs above the street! This street, which has been around since the early 1900’s, is also holding concerts in Niagara Falls.

Right now, every Friday night from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm until August 16th, 2013 at Centennial Square in front of City Hall, Queen Street will be home to a fantastic Summer Lineup of artists that will be putting on some outdoor concerts in Niagara Falls. Sit out the patio at your favourite cafe or restaurant that aligns the street and have a cold one and enjoy some early evening entertainment! This Friday, July 19th, enjoy the sounds of “Blue Radio“, a tribute band to Blue Rodeo. Here is a list of the other upcoming bands:
July 26th: “Summer of 69”, a Salute to Bryan Adams
August 2nd: “Desire”, a Salute to U2
August 9th: “Groove Fever”, a Salute to Diva Fever
August 16th: “The Tone Dogs”, Old Rock and Blues band
Here is a general map of the Niagara Falls downtown core, including where to park. Please note that Queen Street concerts in Niagara Falls are located at Centennial Square in front of City Hall at 4310 Queen Street (bewteen Ontario Av. and Erie Av.):

With many drink specials including a bucket of Coors Light for $16.99 and an extensive menu featuring international dishes, burgers, steaks and salads, there is something for everyone to enjoy on your night out! Just steps away is Boston Pizza Clifton Hill , the best place to watch your favorite team on one of the many big screen tvs! You will always know what games are playing on any particular evening by its updated online gaming schedule! This massive facility is also home to the Great Canadian Midway arcade, in which you can eat, drink and play games on your Friday night out. Even if the concerts are over, Strike Rock N Bowl, also located inside Boston Pizza pumps out top current and classic hits while you enjoy a competitive game of 10 pin bowling!

New white lion exhibit now open at Safari Niagara!

Reading Time:  4 minutes -Take the whole family to Safari Niagara!
If you are looking for a great Niagara Falls attraction to take the whole family, Safari Niagara has something for the whole family to enjoy! Located just a 10 minute drive from Niagara Falls itself, Stevensville is a town rich in rural beauty. Black Creek runs through the area which is often used by kayaks and canoes with a perfect spot to launch a boat…and within this stretch of countryside sits Safari Niagara at 2821 Stevensville Rd. Safari Niagara, formerly known as Zooz, is a 150-acre nature park with over 750 animal, bird and reptile species. It’s the ultimate Summer fun destination open from June 1 – Labour Day. The park is completely interactive with educational animal presentations, guided tours, animal feedings and a petting farm.

New this year is that admission is all inclusive, which means you gain access not only to the entrance fee, but also unlimited use of the rope course, bungee, safari rides, splash pad, fishing, kite flying, paddle boats and more! There’s also playgrounds for the little ones to enjoy, a restaurant on site and a gift shop. Season memberships are available for purchase at the park admissions booth or by calling 905-382-9669.

New to 2013 is the White Rhinoceros Exhibit, an Interactive Reptile Exhibit and a Free Flight Budgie Experience…and one of the most beautiful exotic animals has just arrived — the White Lions!
There are four white lions, two males and two females. The white lions range from 5 to 7 months old and were captive born from a facility in South Africa, which they will now be a permanent fixture at Safari Niagara.
White lions are extremely rare and have not been seen in the wild in more than 15 years. These are Niagara Falls’ first and ONLY lions. They reign from the Timbavati region of South Africa. Their white disposition is the result of a recessive gene known as a color inhibitor specific to their native region.
“We are committed to the conservation of endangered lions. We strive to educate our guests on the importance of conservation, as it is key to the survival of many species” said General Manager Tim Tykolis.
In addition to the lions, there are many more wide variety of animals from Elks and Flamingos to Tigers and Giraffes! Click here to see an alphabetical list of animals featured.

Safari Niagara is currently holding a naming contest for the four lions on their Facebook page @ www.facebook.com/SafariNiagara and directly at Safari Niagara until June 9th, 2013. The winners will be presented with 2-day passes to the park! Season memberships are available for purchase at the park admissions booth or by calling 905-382-9669.

When the park closes, no doubt you are getting hungry and there’s no other spot in Niagara Falls that draws the crowds in like Clifton Hill!
