Justin Bieber in Niagara Falls was Temporary, but the Bieber on Clifton Hill is Here to Stay

Reading Time:  3 minutes -

Love them or hate them, two of the hottest stars in the news lately are in Niagara Falls — at least the wax version that is. Justin Bieber in Niagara Falls was a temporary appearance when he arrived at the Fallsview Casino with his entourage Saturday night. He was denied entry to the gaming floor after one of his friends failed to produce photo ID. After mulling around in the lobby for a few minutes he left as quickly as he came. See the full story produced by the Niagara Falls Review here.
Justin Bieber shot to fame in 2008 and since then, has been a hot topic in the news. Due to his popularity, Movieland Wax Museum on Clifton Hill unveiled a carefully crafted reconstruction of Justin Bieber from wax, almost 3 years ago on this date on March 25, 2011.

Fans that missed the opportunity to see Justin Bieber in Niagara Falls can at least get their photos taken with him and many other film, tv and music stars hot in the news currently such as Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and another recent hot topic, Jennifer Lawrence.

Jennifer Lawrence, best known for her roles in the “Hunger Games” and the “Hunger Games: Catching Fire” series of films, tripped and fell while making her way to the stage to accept the Best Actress Oscar for her role in Silver Linings Playbook” last year.
This year, the popular and seemingly down-to-earth celebrity tripped again on the red carpet of this years 86th Annual Academy Awards — I personally love her for it and so do thousands of others, catapulting her to even further stardom. Which leaves many people wondering whether she is doing it on purpose for attention. CBC news recently took notice of this as well, and covered a story on it: Oscars 2014: Did Jennifer Lawrence stage her red carpet fall?

In 2013, Movieland Wax Museum took notice of Jennifer Lawrence’s increasing fame after the successful 2012 “Hunger Games” movie release.

Celebrities are frequently arriving in Niagara Falls, especially with the Fallsview Casino’s weekly concert venues, and the fact that we live in a city that holds one of the most beautiful natural wonders in the world. It’s not uncommon to see celebrities among tourists roaming around Clifton Hill, such as these shots from the Summer of 2012 of Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes:

If you come to Niagara Falls and are one of the lucky ones to cross paths with one of the many stars that frequent here, than great. But if not, Movieland Wax Museum is staying on top of the hottest celebrities in the news to determine which celebrity (or character!) to recreate next!

Wax Museum in Niagara Falls introduces some new additions!

Reading Time:  5 minutes -

The Movieland Wax Museum of the Stars located on Clifton Hill has unveiled some new Bollywood additions recently, Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan, both starring in the Bollywood movie, Ek Tha Tiger. The wax museum has over 100 figures and 70 sets depicting the actors in the scenes that made them famous, and now the wax museum has decided to branch out and introduce some figures that may not be well known to Canadian and US residents, but are huge in the Indian cultures. This is the second Bollywood set that Movieland Wax Museum has produced; the first being the very famous, Shah Rukh Khan featured from his movie, Don 2.

This wax museum features wax figures for every age group, from young children to the elderly. Many sets are interactive in that you not only have the ability to take pictures next to them, but you can sit on the same bench as Forrest Gump or even sit in between the Obamas! These are just a couple of examples — there are even interactive trivia scenes such as “Guess the Dwarf?” trivia in the Snow White and the Seven Dwarves set.
Hollywood sensations like Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones and Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft, as well as Harry Potter, the Terminator, Marilyn Monroe, The Dark Night, Mr. T, Austin Powers, Freddy Krueger and Eddie Murphy are just some of the celebrities that you will see here! There is also a room dedicated to music and recording artists which includes Elvis Presley, Hannah Montana, Shania Twain, Madonna, Cher, Michael Jackson, Bette Midler, Justin Bieber, Barbra Streisand and more.

For those of you curious as to how a wax museum makes their wax figures, here is a general guideline although some wax museums may differ slightly in their process:
1) First, the artist will collect lots of photographs of the person that they are going to sculpt as a basis to begin the procedure.
2) From these photographs they will sculpt a head in clay.
3) Then either a plaster or rubber mold is made, or both from the sculpt.
4) The artist will then pour hot wax into the mold and let it set.
5) The wax head is then cleaned, the eyes and teeth inserted.
6) The hair is then inserted one or two strands at a time and when it is finished, it is washed and styled.
7) The last step is to apply makeup, which is oil paint.
Here are some answers to FAQ’s:
Q: What kind of wax is used?
A: It’s a mixture of serenson and bees wax.
Q: What kind of hair is used?
A: It is human hair.
Q: What are the eyes made of?
A: They are made of glass.
Q: How long does it take to insert human hair?
A: 40-60 hours.
Q: How long does it take to make a wax figure?
A: Two to six weeks.
Q: What are the bodies made of?
A: Fiberglass, wood or plaster.
Q: Are they all wax?
A: No, only the parts that are visible, such as the head and arms.

The Movieland Wax Museum has some new additions on the way, including a new Iron Man figure for all you comic book fans! He will join the other superheroes in the museum, such as Batman and Superman. There is a theatre inside the wax museum that showcases some silent films and scenes from movies displayed here, as well as a “House of Horrors” optional exit at the end of the museum. Here you will weave your way through a dark mirror maze into a chamber of horrors — where an electric chair awaits you for a photo opportunity! Sit down, pull the level and get ready to shake about while smoke “electrifies” you!

Whether you choose the “chicken exit” or you brave the “House of Horrors” exit, you will enter into the Fun Factory. This store features novelty gift items (shirts from Storage Wars, Sesame Street, etc.), Austrian Crystal and fashion jewellery, games, magnets, hats, mugs, toys and stationary, and much more!
The Fun Factory also features a Wax Hand Emporium where you can make replicas of your own hand coloured in wax. It’s a unique souvenir and you can customize your hand the way you want it. You can even do two hands (great Honeymoon idea!) and add writing to it to remember the date or special occasion and/or add a ring, butterfly or flower to your hand.

The Movieland Wax Museum is $11.99 for Adults and $6.99 for Children 12 and under. Children 2 years old and under are free. Get the best value by purchasing the Clifton Hill Fun Pass and for only $14 more per Adult, you get the Movieland Wax Museum, the Niagara Skywheel, Ghostblasters Dark Ride, XD Ride Theatre, Dinosaur Adventure Golf or Galaxy Golf and some game tokens to play among the over 300 arcade games featured in the Great Canadian Midway! Don’t forget the added value of purchasing the Fun Pass online is that you will receive a bonus Niagara Skywheel admission! Go twice for day and night views, or save it for another day as you have a year to use up the attractions on your pass, so don’t feel like you need to do all these great Niagara Falls attractions in one day!

Contest time!! Which movie among the pictures shown from the Movieland Wax Museum below does NOT currently have a sequel being released? Share this blog and give your answer in the comment section of this blog. Among the correct answers, there will be a winner selected at random on Monday, August 26th at 5:00 pm that will win 2 Clifton Hill Fun Passes and a game for 2 at Strike Rock N Bowl located inside Boston Pizza Clifton Hill!

Good luck and next time you visit Clifton Hill check out Movieland Wax Museum!

Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls adds a touch of Bollywood

Reading Time:  2 minutes -

It’s quite a known fact theses days Bollywood is gaining a lot of popularity around the world, so I guess it’s only fitting we add a touch of it here in “World Famous” Niagara Falls.
Bollywood is the informal term popularly used for the Hindi-language film industry based in Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay), Maharashtra,India. Bollywood is the largest film producer in India and one of the largest centres of film production in the world. There has been a growing presence of Indian English in dialogue and songs as well.
Movieland Wax Museum on Clifton Hill is recognizing Bollywood with the addition of their newest character Shahrukh Khan. SRK is the Indian film actor AKA “The King of Bollywood”, and has acted in over 70 Hindi films. His contributions to the film industry have garnered him numerous achievements including fourteen Filmfare Awards from thirty nominations. His eight Filmfare Best Actor Award wins make him the most awarded actor of all time in that category, and Newsweek has named him one of the 50 most powerful people in the world.
My recent tour through the museum was definitely filled with some good laughs and so interesting trying to pick out the characters before reading the signs.  I love the “house of horrors”, and I am not going to lie I jumped a few times and I won’t tell you where or why you will just have to figure that out for yourself.  No worries though you don’t have to bring the little ones through the scary parts.  The last time I went through with my two little girls (5 and 4) they had a door you could venture through to avoid any bedtime issues with the kiddies.  It’s a very easy museum to maneuver through and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves as we toured through reminiscing about all the old T.V shows and movies we used to watch.
Now that you know a little more about Khan, and the Movieland Wax Museum lets see what else you will find…

If you are on Clifton Hill and feel like taking a walk through entertainment history you will love the Movieland Wax Museum, and at the end you will wind up in the Fun Factory where they have tons of cool souvenirs and you can make wax hands too!
