Reading Time:  4 minutes -

On May 19th, WildPlay Niagara introduced its newest addition, the WildPlay Niagara Falls Whirlpool Adventure Course. We had a couple employees on Clifton Hill (Amy and Margaret) try out the course this past weekend.
They share their pictures and give their reviews.

Margaret:
“It made me realize what I was actually capable of doing. It looks easy from down below but it’s very challenging and I love a challenge!”
Amy:
“At check-in, the girls were very nice, they asked for my birthday as confirmation for the waiver we had to fill out.  We were then sent down to be suited up.
A woman put us in the harnesses and tightened them up. She told us to put on the helmets and led us over to the training area. We were given a brief and informative run through on how to use the harness clips (2) and the zipline. We all went through the practice area and then we were lead up the top of the registration building where the first tightrope is located. There was a different girl there to instruct you to wait your turn and advises us that the oldest person to complete the course was in his 90s! Ok, confidence boost, thanks I needed that. We clipped our red safety clip to the line and off we went.
Beginning the course – At first I was really pumped.  Looking out you can see all the challenges and you want to master the course. However, after setting out on the tightrope you begin to realize how high it actually is. I found each obstacle fairly easy for my fitness level, but in combination with the height and weather (high winds) there was an added challenge.  Also, there was added paranoia knowing that after you do the first zipline there is no turning back. There is no one with a trampoline waiting for you to quit…and if you lose your footing, you must self-recover. The staff refer to each of the sections of the course between each large post as ‘games’.  I enjoyed the satisfaction and triumph of completing each game and also the relief as I bear hugged the giant post that thank the Lord I didn’t fall.
The views where beautiful and I really enjoyed seeing the top of the WEGO bus as it passed under my shaking sneakers on the 2nd or 3rd tightrope, which were nicely suspended over the exit driveway. At this point, my mind goes back to the waiver I signed…
Completion-  There is a rope and its far away from the platform. The girl will ask you to reach for it. Once you manage to get a hold of it, she will instruct you to attach it to your harness and hold your harness close to the base. Then you will be instructed to ‘walk off’ the platform into a free fall style exiting. I was facing the whirlpool and feeling the wind gusts come up from the gorge, which defiantly added to the weightless feeling on my body.  About mid-way down, the rope pulls you tight the way a seatbelt does when you slam on the brakes, and you are gracefully lowered to the ground.
Verdict-  I would do it again in a heartbeat but never on a windy day.  Great for bragging rights and the bucket list for the old man.

WildPlay Niagara Falls Whirlpool Adventure Course

The WildPlay Niagara Falls Whirlpool Adventure Course has just had its official unveiling on May 19th, 2017, and it is a fun, challenging, and unique way to experience your choice of three self-paced suspended obstacles that include ziplines, climbing, jumping, and swinging aerial games. Of course, the setting can’t be beat with the backdrop being the Niagara Whirlpool and Niagara Gorge.

Types of Courses

Classic Course
Games and ziplines start at six-feet (two metres) above the ground, and begin to rise as you get comfortable with equipment and moving through the obstacles. The fun and challenge increases as you go — testing your bravery and evolving your abilities. Reach up to 45 feet (14 metres) and you’ve completed the whole course.
**Minimum age is 7. Children ages 7-13 must have an adult supervising in the park with them. Minimum reach: 5’11” (180 cm) with feet flat on the ground. 60-90 minutes to complete. Chaperone requirements: ten kids (ages seven to thirteen) per one adult (on the ground or in the trees).

This is an add-on to the Classic experience where you push your limits with the highest obstacles and ziplines — up to 60 feet (18 metres). The thrilling games and moving obstacles fully challenge your balance and strength.
**Minimum age is 12. Minimum reach is 5’11” (180 cm) with feet flat on the ground. 30-60 minutes to complete.
Kids Course
Suspended up to 10 feet (three metres) high, it features a dozen games and ziplines, created specifically for young guests to move independently and comfortable through the trees.
**Minimum age is 5, maximum age is 12. Minimum reach is 4’7″ (140 cm) with feet flat on the ground. 45-90 minutes to complete. Kids must have an adult supervising in the park with them. Parent/legal guardian signed waiver is required for each child.

WILDPLAY’S What’s To Fear Jump
