Springlicious 2013 Niagara Falls Event

Reading Time:  4 minutes -

Springlicious 2013
You know Summer is here when the festivals begin to arrive, and this Niagara Falls event, for the sixth year running, is truly the kick-off to fun in the sun — and that is Springlicious! Locals and tourists line downtown Niagara Falls where historic Queen Street closes the street to traffic to open the streets to spectators of every age for this Niagara Falls event. Vendors line the street, and local wineries and micro-breweries feature their products for sale and food vendors are ready to fill your bellies with delicious treats! There is entertainment for everyone and the whole street echoes with the sounds of live bands. Queen Street draws in art lovers with their galleries, and this year is no different with artists showcasing their talents.

When is Springlicious 2013?
This FREE Niagara Falls event runs from Friday, May 31st to Sunday, June 2nd, 2013 and the hours are as follows:
Friday, May 31st: 5:00 pm – 11:00 pm
Saturday, June 1st: 11:00 am – 11:00 pm
Sunday, June 2nd: 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
Bring the kids!
Kids will be wildly entertained as there is plenty of events for them to view and participate in. Friday evening showcases local young talent with their “School-A-Palooza” talent show and competition between finalists from five local high schools, and all weekend there is a full-sized carnival featuring rides and games. The carnival requires a bracelet that is $35.
Look out for “Marco the Clown” who performs flips and stunts and so much more — which is amazing in itself, but made even more amazing considering he is BLIND!
There will also be a “Bubbleology” show where a bubbleologist creates bubble shapes…long bubbles, bubble volcanoes, bubble caterpillars, bubble chains, square bubbles, and even the chance to stand IN a bubble!
Here is an example of “Bubbleology”!:

And it wouldn’t be a Niagara Falls event without the “Reptile Kid Zone”! Here, children will learn about reptile rescue, care and even get to handle a wide variety of reptiles. Children will also learn the importance of teamwork where they can build a full-sized cabin during “Construction Camp”.

Live Entertainment!
There will be plenty of bands performing including David Wilcox on Saturday, June 1st from 9:30-11:00 pm on the Main Stage! For complete music listings click here.
If you plan on drinking and staying late, plan on spending the night (or weekend!) and check out the Clifton Hill Niagara Falls Hotel . Located just a few minutes drive away and easily accessible by taxi or bus, the Comfort Inn Clifton Hill is close enough to this Niagara Falls event and to all the major tourism hot spots on Clifton Hill. Rates are inexpensive and on a few select days in June, this hotel features a $19.95 room discount — including Sunday, June 2nd! I’m sure the rooms will fill up quickly, especially on this weekend due to the Springlicious event and the Niagara Falls Women’s Half Marathon occurring all within the same days. You can jump on your Comfort Inn Clifton Hill reservation by clicking here. Make it a whole weekend of fun by taking advantage of the Niagara Falls package deals that the Clifton Hill Niagara Falls Hotel exclusively offers like those featured in their “Build-A-Package” campaign. Incredible savings on attractions for the whole family including Marineland , the Clifton Hill Fun Pass and the Niagara Parks Adventure Pass.

 Keep the party going!
The party doesn’t end at Springlicious! Boston Pizza Clifton Hill is always a popular hot spot on the weekends with its vast menu items, and state-of-the-art unique setting within the giant 70,000 square foot Great Canadian Midway arcade! The restaurant is surrounded by games, sports memorabilia and tons of big screen TVs to watch the game! People watch on the patio and take in all the attractions just steps away , like the Niagara Skywheel. Strike Rock N Bowl is also attached, where you can bowl under neon lights and pumping music. Rumours nightclub is guaranteed to be filled to the max with people itching to keep the party going on its massive dance floor!

Whatever you decide to do, there are plenty of Niagara Falls events that are about to start up in order to ring in the Summer! Springlicious is a good start to ring in the season, but if you want to get the season started even earlier, this weekend is Memorial Day weekend and there are plenty of events, fireworks and concerts to attend in Niagara Falls. Planning Your Trip/Getting Here
If you are planning on catching this amazing event, you may want to schedule your arrival for Thursday to beat some of the crowd.  Watch out because others will be attempting to do the same.  If you are waiting until Friday to make the trip be prepared you could possibly have a bit of a wait in traffic,  so a  good idea would be to bring some books, make sure the laptop is charged, if you have kids you get be ahead of the game by packing a few snacks for the road, some of their favourite games, and if you’re lucky you have one of those mini DVD players for the car.  It may not even be a bad idea to leave a little early and plan a few alternate routes off the main highways just in case!
Coming from Outside Canada
If you have to cross the border to get to  Niagara Falls  you may need to know Children under the age of 16 can present an original copy of their birth certificate, passport or NEXUS card as preferred identification.  Anyone over 16 MUST have a passport to cross the border.  If you are not the parent or guardian of children in your group, you should also have written permission from the parent/guardian authorizing the trip. The letter should include addresses and telephone numbers where the parents or guardian can be reached.
Divorced or separated parents should carry custody or legal separation documents and/or a letter of authorization to facilitate their entry into Canada.
Wallenda will be walking towards the Canadian side of the falls so it would be worth it to cross the border, and join the excitement as we wait for Wallenda to reach his location at the Table Rock Welcome Centre.
