For a short month, February sure is busy with Family fun on Clifton Hill
Clifton Hill… Valentine’s Day, Family Day, or any day, February is a great time to visit.
February… the shortest month of the year. It also used to be last month of the year. But that was when the Romans were calling the calendar shots. Now the second month of the year, February also has some odd nicknames. Some call it ‘mud month’. Another nick name is ‘Month of Pearls’. The reason for that is the way in a February thaw, snow on the trees glistens like pearls. In any event, for a short month, it sure has a couple great holidays. Of course there’s Valentine’s Day and in Ontario, we also celebrate Family Day… this year on February 18th.

Whether the former or the latter, if you’re looking for something fun to do, then Niagara Falls and Clifton Hill should ideally be on your to do list. The nice thing about Niagara Falls in February is that the crowds are smaller around the attractions and the Falls. You can also luck into some pretty nice weather, especially if you hit a February thaw. Of course, the other thing to remember is that Niagara Falls – particularly Clifton Hill – teems with things to do indoors should the weather not cooperate. All in all, it makes it a great place to bring the whole gang for Family Day.
To mention everything that is going on, we’d need this and the next 10 blogs, but here are a few highlights to get started. The Great Canadian Midway is a fun place to start. It brings out the kid in anyone regardless of age. At 70,000 square feet and over 300 games, let’s just say it’s a good time waiting to be had. The other nice thing about the Midway, is that if you get a Clifton Hill Fun Pass, it includes five Midway tokens. The Clifton Hill Fun Pass is available online, or better still, use our Niagara Falls Build-a-Package link online and you can include the Fun Pass as well as receive additional savings and special offers.

The Fun Pass also includes admission to one of the other great indoor attractions… The Movieland Wax Museum of the Stars. As well as the Niagara SkyWheel which is one of the best ways to see the Falls. And if you think about it, the SkyWheel with its climate controlled gondolas is kind of like being indoors while being out.
Ah being out; it is a pretty attractive option given the smaller crowds and great deals available. Aside from getting up close and personal to the mighty falls, checking out Table Rock Centre, or strapping on the blades at the TD Rink at the Brink, the shops and restaurants along Clifton Hill and Victoria Avenue abound with great food and great deals. Just one example is the Fudge Factory…a chocoholic and candy lover’s dream. And all of it just a short stroll from the quiet and serenity of the Niagara Parks.

Now if romance is on your February agenda – and how could it not be with Valentine’s Day falling smack dab in the middle of the month – then we do have a couple of Niagara Falls suggestions. It was after all, the honeymoon capital of North America.
The setting is romantic and the nightlife lively. Kelsey’s for dinner delivers just the right mix of fine dining coupled with a friendly and casual atmosphere. After dinner, hit the dance floor at Rumours Nightclub. There is also Yuk Yuks and on February 14 & 15, stand up comedienne Wanda Sykes performs at the Avalon Theatre in Fallsview Casino Resort. On February 9th, granted before Valentine’s Day, you can catch Hotel California: The Original Eagles Tribute at the Greg Frewin Theatre.

So whether to celebrate Family Day, Valentine’s Day or just about any day… head down the peninsula or over the river to Niagara Falls, Ontario. And remember at Comfort Inn Clifton Hill, not only can you save big, you can use our Niagara Falls Build-a-Package offering when you book online. We’re looking forward to offering you a warm welcome, great value and enviable location at our Niagara Falls Hotel.
