During/After the Nik Wallenda Walk

Reading Time:  < 1 minute

Well history was made! Nik Wallenda successfully crossed Niagara Falls on a highwire, and as it seemed without breaking a sweat.  He even took the time to be interviewed while crossing.  He did wear the harness but over all the event was amazing.  An estimated 120,000 people were in attendance.  It was incredible to be down in the mix of everything for the event.  Even though not everyone had the greatest view the crowds cheered Nik on as he crossed with ease.  Hearts were pounding, and the moment he reached the end the cheers were like a roaring thunder overpowering even the mighty Niagara Falls!   The streets of Clifton Hill were packed afterwards, but everyone seemed to be quite happy with be a part of the hype!

“The title says it all! He crossed the walled barrier at Niagara Falls to perform the 2 step. He slipped a few times while walking around and he did lay down by the rock out-cropping and peered down the falls. He eventually did come back to the wall and was pulled over by a couple of his friends. The Police, to my knowledge did not show up.”

A Death-Defying Stunt, but Is Anyone Paying Attention?

It’s very early in the morning aboard the “GMA” Whistle-Stop ’08 Tour train, and Chris Cuomo is cool.

“GMA” anchor Chris Cuomo was tethered by a harness — just in case — above Niagara Falls.

Not cool like James Dean cool (although that’s debatable), but cool like Tiger Woods on the 18th hole at the Masters cool.  And he needs to be.
Today we’re headed to Niagara Falls, N.Y., for what I’ve been told are breathtaking views and a few major surprises, including a life-threatening, death-defying, insanity-inspired stunt that is only now being slightly overhyped.
They really don’t tell me much, but I do know that at some point Chris’ life could literally be on the line and that he’ll get a view of the falls few people get, save those that have been over in a barrel.
But if there’s anyone who can pull this off, I’m sure that at least Chris thinks he can. (more…)

NANAIMO – Vancouver Island daredevil Dean Sullivan has landed a summer job in Niagara Falls, where he is being paid to rappel off a 155-metre tower and break the world record for the longest rappel out of a helicopter.
The stint marks a return for Sullivan, who twice — in 2004 and 2007 — speed-rappelled off the cliffs of the falls.
He made headlines in 2002 when he bungee-jumped off the Lions Gate Bridge at Vancouver’s Stanley Park. He was trying to land on a passing cruise ship, but miscalculated and hit his head. (more…)
