Haunted Niagara: Places to Tour

Niagara is known for its historic significance (Old Fort Erie, Battle of Lundy’s Lane, etc.), and with these stories of both horror and heroism, comes ghost stories. Here is a list of places throughout Niagara to tour this time of year that are said to be haunted.

Niagara-on-the-Lake Ghost Walks

Niagara-on-the-Lake is known as Canada’s most haunted town. This tour will take you to a variety of locations, such as the “angry ghost of a murdered soul inside the Angel Inn”, stopping on the shores of Lake Ontario for a violent and ancient legend, and “the house that makes cameras go crazy”.

It will also stop at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Courthouse, Prince of Wales Hotel, Apothecary, Royal George Theatre, and much more.

Walks are 7 days a week nightly at 8:00 pm during the month of October, and every Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm in November and December.

Prices: $15 for Adults, $5 for Children 13 and under, and Seniors aged 60+ are $10.

Ghost Tours of Fort George

Ghost Tours of Niagara is the longest-running ghost walk in the Niagara Region. Candlelight ghost tours of Fort George are offered throughout the Spring and Summer (May to September), but there are special Halloween ghost tours offered throughout October that highlights the scariest parts of the haunted Fort George in Niagara-on-the-Lake. This is a 2-hour walking tour that includes stories too frightening to be told on the Summer tours, and opens a building (the Officers’ Quarters) that is usually off-limits during the usual ghost tours.

Halloween Tours start at:
7:00, 7:15 & 7:30 pm
10:00, 10:15 & 10:30 pm (excluding Sunday tours)

Haunted Ghost Walks of Niagara Falls

Niagara Ghost Walks will take you through the spookiest streets in Downtown Niagara Falls. Your tour guide will share its tales of crime and murder. Stories such as Niagara’s mob wars and the exact spot where Freddy Tedesco was murdered, feel the negative energy within Niagara’s Haunted Rooming House and hear the story of the murdered soul that is said to still occupy it, plus find out why Blythewood Manor (bed & breakfast) has had paranormal investigators confirm the presence of spirits.

This tour starts at Old Crow Bar & Bistro at 4337 Queen Street, Niagara Falls.

Prices: $15 for Adults and $7 for Children 13 and under. Tour times begin at 8:45 pm Wednesday – Saturday.

Old Fort Erie – All Hallow’s Eve Tour

Head to Old Fort Erie on October 21st, 27th, and 28th at 7:30 pm, 7:45 pm, 8:00 pm for an evening of spooky tales at the spot of Canada’s bloodiest battlefield. It’s the prime setting for hair-raising stories that took place here many years ago…you may even see a ghost or two as they have been known to frequent the premises….

The evening ends with refreshments and the annual burning of a Guy Fawkes effigy at 8:30 pm.

When the tour concludes, you are invited to stick around and watch a classic Halloween movie in their theatre. Admission is free with a purchase of an All Hallows’ Eve ticket. They will be showing “Shaun of the Dead” (2004) (Rated R) on October 21, “Addams Family Values” (1993) (Rated PG-13) on October 27, and “ParaNorman” (2012) (Rated PG-13) on October 28. Movies start at 9 p.m.

Price is $12.50 for Adults and $8.15 for Children

Drummond Hill Cemetery Tours

Let a costumed guide tell the story of drama and intrigue as you wander the grounds and happen upon theatrical performances that provide a glimpse of the lives of some of the people from the history of the city that are buried within the Drummond Hill Cemetery.

Dates are Friday & Saturday (Oct 20th and 21st), and Friday & Saturday (27th and 28th) and lasts for approximately 1 hour.

Tickets can be purchased at the Niagara Falls History Museum or by calling 905-358-5082. Ages 12+.

Tickets must be purchased in advance.

The Drummond Hill Cemetery is located at 6110 Lundy’s Lane in Niagara Falls. It is a nationally recognized heritage site most famously known as the battle grounds of the “Battle of Lundy’s Lane”, as well as the burial site of Laura Secord.

Full Moon Ghost Walks

This is a popular St. Catharines Downtown ghost walk which explores the history and haunted tales of the downtown core. These guided tours will tell the haunted tales of the past and present, while also sharing historical commentary about the unique buildings and happenings. Walks are 75 minutes in length and all Ghost Walks depart from the King Street doors of Market Square (91 King Street).

Advanced tickets are required as they sell out fast! Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased online by clicking here or at the St.Catharines Downtown Association office located at 80 King Street, main floor, St.Catharines.
