West 49 Take the Cake Presented by Schick Xtreme3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY WEST 49
It’s time to help West 49 celebrate their 15th birthday. This Friday & Saturday (Oct 1st & 2nd), the West 49 Take the Cake Presented by Schick Xtreme3 and the Axe Twist Amateur Open takes place at the Oakes Garden Theatre in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Here are some updates regarding the event:

It’s time to help West 49 celebrate their 15th birthday. This Friday & Saturday (Oct 1st & 2nd), the West 49 Take the Cake Presented by Schick Xtreme3 and the Axe Twist Amateur Open takes place at the Oakes Garden Theatre in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Here are some updates regarding the event:
* This is Canada’s largest cash purse event in Canadian skateboarding history with $100,000.00 CDN in prize money being awarded.
* Lots of reasons for riders to sign up for the AXE TWIST AMATEUR OPEN. West 49 and Schick Xtreme3 have dropped another $1500.00 of prize money into the Axe Twist Amateur Open (1st $750, 2nd $500, 3rd $250).
* New Era will be outfitting the top three Axe Twist Amateur Open Finalists in New Era authentic gear via an exclusive online shopping experience (1st $500, 2nd $350, 3rd $250).
* And of course, the winning skater moves on to compete with the world’s best in Saturday’s final feature including Paul Rodriguez, Chaz Ortiz and Torey Pudwill just to name a few.
* This event will be jam-packed with performances, autograph sessions, activities and of course, the best skateboarding in Canadian history all with Niagara Falls as the backdrop to an amazing weekend of action sports.

P-Rod, Chaz Ortiz, Alex Olson, Torey Pudwill, Sierra Fellers, Matt Miller, Corey Duffel, Darrell Stanton, Chima Ferguson, Paul Trep, Grant Patterson, Shuriken Shannon, Brandon Westgate, and many, many more are all confirmed to compete in the West 49 Take the Cake event coming Oct 1st and 2nd to Niagara Falls, Ontario.
West 49 Take the Cake is Canada’s largest cash purse event in Canadian skateboarding history with $100,000.00 CDN in prize money being awarded. Thirteen of the worlds best international skaters will descend on Niagara Falls Oct 1-2, 2010 to showcase their tricks on a best trick stair set up.
The excitement begins on Friday, October 1st with the Axe Twist Amateur Open Qualifiers – which will give one skater the pass to ride with the worlds best in Saturday’s final feature. Saturday, October 2nd will play host to the Axe Twist Amateur Open Finals and the highly anticipated WEST 49 TAKE THE CAKE presented by Schick X3 contest. The two day event takes place in the open air with Niagara Falls in the backdrop and showcases a live performance from the artist SHAD.
Plan to celebrate with us at the official warm up and wrap up parties. The Push.ca Skate Park will be open all day so bring your skate, and helmet, to join in the fun as well as hang out with the skate brands in the sponsor village.

West49 Turns 15 and brings “Take the Cake” Skateboard Comp to Niagara Falls

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: To mark 15 years as Canada’s largest retail skateboard shop, West 49 is celebrating in a big way. West 49 Take The Cake skateboard contest will take place in Niagara Falls, Ontario in October 2010. On Saturday, October 2, 2010, West 49 Take The Cake will erupt Oakes Garden Theatre in Niagara Falls featuring 10 of the worlds most influential and recognizable pro skaters throwing down their best tricks for a $100,000.00 CASH prize. Canada’s largest Cash purse event in Canada.
West 49 Take The Cake event will be the standout skateboard event of the year, a must attend on anyone’s calendar of events. An amateur qualifying contest on the Friday will give one skater the pass to ride with the worlds best in Saturday’s final feature. Managed by eventSing promotions inc. who have more than a decade experience in packaging and producing National action sports events. Together, West 49 and eventSing promotions made the easy decision to involve Canada’s most respected park designers; New Line Skateparks who will be installing the best trick feature that promises to play upon the 15th birthday celebration. The excitement begins on Friday, October 1st with an amateur contest and a large welcome party for VIP and invited skaters.
The event space will be filled with action sports retailers and manufacturers featuring interactive games and up to 7,000 fans throughout the two-day event. West 49 is in the process of finalizing some great sponsorship deals to make this event the best possible and hopes to secure a national television deal to broadcast West 49 Take The Cake.
