Rink at the Brink opening delayed two days
Posted By Alison Langley

The new outdoor skating rink was scheduled to open today, but the launch has been postponed until Wednesday.

We knew we’d have a few little hiccups and challenges along the way, but we’re almost ready,” Dino Fazio, general manager of the Winter Festival of Lights said.

The delay is to accommodate some finishing touches to the outdoor arena.

“We’re not happy, but we will be in a few days. The ice is not up to the standards we want it to be yet. That’s the critical thing for us and we want everything to be perfect.”

The rink needs to be flooded with a quarter of an inch of water at a time then allowed to freeze before another layer can be added. Crews are expected to be working around the clock leading up to Wednesday’s launch. Click here to read more and watch the video
