Out of Cleveland Hello Niagara Falls!
Since Ryan has been a little hard-working man so much we decided to take a family trip to Niagara Falls & Toronto. We are so glad that we did- it was great to bond as a family and enjoy my hubs. Niagara Falls was only three in a half hours away so we were able to get there relatively fast. We started off the day doing the beloved “Maid of the Mist” adventure. We were told it is a “must” and they were right. We had a blast! It is a ferry that takes you up close to the Falls- to both Canadian and American Falls. You get sprayed with water and get to see a breath-taking view. We can definitely see why it is called one of The Seven Wonders of the World. I have always wanted to go to Niagara Falls- so I am glad that the hubs took the time off to spend with the fam. It was a much needed and fun vaca! (more…)

Festival is a laughing matter

Bigger festival = bigger laughs.
After two years as a single night event, the Niagara Falls Comedy Fest has supersized itself for its return in February. With a roster of nearly 20 comics, the event has gone back to its roots to become a three-day affair. And it will be stacked with some of Canada’s most established comedians.
Avoiding the “pretense” of big comedy festivals in Toronto and Montreal was key, says organizer Mark Matthews. The veteran Niagara Falls comic wants it to be three nights of accessible comedy, with many of the same performers you’d see in bigger festivals.
“Montreal is unobtainable for the average person to go and sit and watch a show,” he says.
“My aim was to try and take people on those shows and put them in Niagara Falls. Have people say, when they walk out, ‘I can’t believe I saw those guys for this price.’ “

$1 day at Clifton Hill Sunday
23rd annual event raises funds for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
For Nancy Clayton there couldn’t be an easier fundraiser than the $1 museum day.
As the vice-president of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CCFF)’s Niagara chapter, she’s been organizing the event for the past 23 years. It started with a need to fundraise funds for cystic fibrosis research but what it’s become is an annual community event that Niagara Falls residents not only participate in, it’s something they look forward to.
“We’ve had people calling asking us when the next one’s going to be,” she said. “The community really likes it.”
Cystic fibrosis is the most common fatal inherited disease affecting young Canadians. The CCFF describes it as a build-up of thick mucus in the lungs leading to severe respiratory problems. The mucus and protein build-up in the digestive tract results in extreme difficulty in digesting and absorbing adequate nutrients from food. (more…)
