But even he knows how frightening that first tattoo can be. Years of being told tattoo parlours are shady, dirty dives has that effect.

Maid of the Mist to set sail next month

The Maid of the Mist will open for business April 10.

Due to a mild winter and favourable ice conditions, the historic tourist attraction will open two weeks earlier than last year.

The Maid of the Mist is one of the oldest tourist attractions in North America.

Easter Flower Display Begins March 27

The Floral Showhouse, located in Queen Victoria Park, opens this weekend and features a seasonal favourite;  The Easter Flower Display. It has been a Niagara tradition for over 60 years.  As an added feature there will be real chicks and bunnies in the greenhouse, a wonderful treat for the kids.

Admission to this year-round attraction is free.

Location: The Niagara Parks Floral Showhouse is located just south of the Falls at 7145 Niagara Parkway.

Hours of Operation: Open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parking is available on site.

Niagara Falls hotel rates fell 5% in 2009

A Niagara Falls vacation was a little cheaper in 2009 than it was the year before as hotel room rates dropped last year by about 5%, according to Hotels.ca,a hotel reservation agency that tracks prices across Canada.

Lower room rates is a trend that should continue this summer as the hotel industry tries to recover from the recession, the effect of the high Canadian dollar and lingering confusion among Americans about travel documentation they need to have to return to their own country, said Wayne Thomson, chairman of Niagara Falls Tourism and a city councilor.
