A month after opening its doors to the public, the Niagara Parks Commission is expected to decide today how much it wants to hear from the public.
A policy on whether to enter-t ain presentations from the public, and under what circumstances they would, is one of the items on the agenda for the second-ever public meeting of the NPC, the provincial agency responsible for managing public land around the Horseshoe Falls and Niagara River.
General manager John Kernahan turned down a request from Preserve Our Parks, a local watchdog group, whose members asked in early February to make a presentation to the commission today. (more…)

The annual Cuvee wine awards is a chance for consumers to taste the best of the best.
But for winning winemakers, the black-tie gathering also offers a nice boost to the ego.
Hailed as the Oscars of the wine business, the Cuvee awards highlights the best vintages produced in Ontario. What’s more, the awards are judged a panel of local winemakers.
“It’s our peers,” said Klaus Reif, owner of Reif Estate Winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake who has attended the event since its inception 22 years ago. (more…)

Google Maps Street View hits Niagara Falls and Clifton Hill
Google Maps has recently included Niagara Falls, in their street view virtual interface.
The photo quality is good and shows an interesting view from all sides in most parts of Niagara Falls including Clifton Hill. The full screen mode is very helpful, allowing visitors to see a lot at once, while able to move the image around 360 degrees.
If Street View doesn’t appear, be sure to click the Street View symbol on the left side, which looks like this:
