Local News – The Review put calls out to all Niagara Parks Commissioners about Jay Cochrane’s request to walk over the Horseshoe Falls. Here’s what they had to say:
- Parks commission chairman Jim Williams, vice-chairman Archie Katzman, as well as commissioners Vince Kerrio, Gary Burroughs and Doug Martin commented on the latest request from Jay Cochrane to walk a tightrope across the Niagara River.
Katzman, Kerrio and Martin either support it or said they were intrigued by the possibility; Burroughs appeared to lean toward rejecting it; Williams confirmed the proposal would be discussed this week.
- Meanwhile, commissioners Fred Louws, Bob Saracino, Bob Gale, David Strathern and Ed Werner told The Review they will reserve comment on the issue until after they have had the opportunity to sit down with other commissioners to discuss it in more detail.
- commissioners Italia Gilberti and David Howes couldn’t be reached for comment.
The Niagara Parks Commission’s board of commissioners is composed of 12 members responsible for policy decisions, working with staff and reporting to the province.
Provincial appointees include representatives from regional council, the Town of Fort Erie, City of Niagara Falls, and the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake.
