The Associated Press has praised Eli Young Band as "a sharp, contemporary alternative" to hackneyed clichés in Country music since the band's founding as college friends 20 years ago. The band has 14 Billboard charting songs, including four No. 1 successes, "Crazy Girl," "Even If It Breaks Your Heart," "Love Ain't," and "Drunk Last Night," as well as an ACM Award for Song of the Year and nominations for Grammy, CMA, CMT, ACA, and Teen Choice Awards.
Mike Eli, James Young, Jon Jones, and Chris Thompson are brothers who play their own instruments, create their own songs, and are fiercely loyal to their Texas heritage.
