BIG, RED, RIPE, JUICY STRAWBERRIES, a sunny day in June, hundreds of families enjoying the great outdoors with terrific entertainment, arts and crafts, and delicious food!
Where can you experience this wonderful annual family event? At the Beamsville Fairgrounds for the 31st edition of the Beamsville Strawberry Festival of course!
The Festival Committee is working on the presentation of a one day event for the families of Beamsville and its surrounding areas. And, as always, there is free admission, free parking and free entertainment. The 14th Annual Charity Bed Race takes place in front of the Grandstand at the Fairgrounds. The runners are cheered on as their teams dash to the finish line pushing decorated beds on wheels. Between heats we run the La-Z-Boy Grand Nationals Recliner Race. Two runners are pushing a rider, strapped into a La-Z-Boy, towards the finish line. A sight to be seen as some of the teams dress up in costumes to add to the fun! Food will be available so come early, grab some dinner, and pick the best seat in the house for the evening.
The Fairgrounds is bustling all day long with the arrival of approximately 100 vendors including crafters, peddlers, business and community displays along with a myriad of activities for the entire family. The Strawberry Idol Contest will return while other attractions are still being organized. Ya’ just never know what we might come up with! We’re certainly hoping to be able to bring back the Pyromusical from Canadian Champion Mike Bohonos and Garden City Display Fireworks.
We are pleased to announce the creation of the Eco Defenders, a program that rewards people for picking up garbage and recyclables at the Beamsville Strawberry Festival on June 21st, 2008. The concept is simple—people check in at the Eco Defenders Headquarters on the grounds to be deputised and get collection bags. Then they bring whatever they collect back to the Headquarters where they get tickets. They can turn in the tickets for a wide array of prizes (from small toys to gift certificates and more). The more tickets collected, the bigger the prizes.
Additionally, we are pleased to announce that the 1st Beamsville Scouts will be partnering with us on this venture. They will be running the Eco Defenders Headquarters and sorting the recycling.
So it’s a fun filled day for everyone. Come enjoy it with us!
